Treborth Botanic Gardens

We've been visiting North Wales for decades, so it's nice when we end up somewhere new. The Treborth Botanic Gardens, near Bangor, were somewhere Ben's parents regularly visit, and they took us along for a stroll one afternoon.

Trying for some creative angles; because the Uni were working in them, the glass-houses weren't open, barring the one near the plant sales table.

Definitely going to be coming back here again.

 

BRM Magazine; Holiday Cottage in TT:120

Another piece in the British Railway Modelling magazine for me (Ben), this time on personalising a Hornby resin ready to plant building into a holiday cottage.

It involved building a little diorama to shoot the cottage on,

This was back in the early Spring, so I was making the most of the sunny weather one weekend, to shoot in the garden at the in-laws.

Cemaes by evening; sunsets and silhouettes.

As mentioned in the last post, we did a lot of walking around Cemaes, and especially after tea. You get some stunning sunsets off the beach here, so this post is a selection of shots taken on some of the evenings.

We spent the first week of the summer holidays in Wales, with Ben's family on Anglesey.

The weather on the way in was less than inspiring, but hey-ho.

As it happened, it was a changeable week weather-wise, but it allowed us to crack on and get a lot of walking done. For several real-life reasons we've decided to change our diets and do a lot of exercise, and have gone back to doing our 10k steps a day. This meant a bit of exploring on foot around Cemaes.

Temptation on the path to righteousness... why, oh why, did we wait until we were dieting and exercising to find a Cheese Vending Machine. A Cheese Vending Machine, seriously! Like a mirage to a man stumbling through the Sahara...

Anyway; we spent the week exploring around the coastal path, the beach, the village, so here's some pics taken over the week.

We ended up somewhere we'd been wanting to pop up to for a while, and the ancient church which sits in a fairly isolated spot up on the cliffs.

It was a rather nice selection of circular walks we ended up finding- the next post will be some of the evening and sunset shots we were able to take...

 

Saturday at Settle

Last Saturday saw us in Settle, North Yorkshire, for a model railway exhibition (the Side Hustle- there's a bit more on the model-making blog).

Whilst we were strolling about the town, we got a few pics around the preserved Signal Box and the flowerbeds at the station.
