With a bit of Time Owing from my (Ben's) day job, we were having a slightly-extended bank holiday weekend in Wales. I'd been on a training course in the North East on the Friday and didn't fancy a motorway run on a Friday, so we thought we'd make a day of it on Saturday, and stop off at Llangollen.
We were here a couple of weeks ago for the Garden Rail festival, and the lack of parking in the town meant we ended up parking back at the exhibition centre and walking in.
We haven't really done much photography at the railway (even with a relative volunteering here) and thought we'd use this visit as the opportunity for a few pics, and lunch at the station cafe before doing the high street.
The weather... good grief, but it was lovely. The sky and sun didn't look real.
Photographing the loco wasn't easy, but for a good reason; there was a wedding party catching this train, and we were trying to avoid getting in the road, and obstructing the official photographer. Been there, done that...
The visiting loco, Austerity-tank "Robert" running as 68067. I've a lot of time for these rugged little machines, and it was nice to take a chance to add a few new pics of the class to my collection.
Amy had spotted an open call on the theme of railings, so we were getting in some test shots whilst some nice ironwork presented itself.
It was just nice to get the cameras out and get some pics around the station; the light was wonderful.
After a couple of hours, lunch and an ice cream from a nice little cafe on the main street, it was back to the car, and the journey continued to Porthmadog...
