Medical Instruments

A quick post today, and a few slightly abstract shots taken at my (Ben's) work, during the clean-up from a surgical course.

I've been doing some shots like this for us to use as decorative pics around the department, and thought I'd add a few more to the collection.

Not much else to day, but hopefully I'll be able to share some pics of the wider project in due course.

Scarborough

We took a trip out to Scarborough at the end of January; Amy has a project on the boil, of which more in a later post, and I (Ben) thought I'd get a few shots whilst we were strolling from Scalby Mills to North Bay and back.

After an excellent lunch, we strolled around the park.

And of course, I can always find a railway to photograph.  No trains running due to winter maintenance alas, but plenty of reference shots for model-making purposes.

Back to the beach for some more photographs.

By 3, the tide was rolling in, and it was time to bail out.  As I said, we'll hopefully be able to share some more information on the project Amy is working on once a couple of deadlines have passed.

New Years Day on the Worth Valley Railway

New Years Day, and a trip back out to the KWVR to indulge in the last day of their Mince Pie Specials.

Black 5 no.45212 was on the steam diagram, and this always-impressive locomotive was doing a fine turn.

The day also marked the last trains in and out of Keighley Station for a while, as a long-needed rebuild is underway this Spring.

I (Ben) thought I'd get a few pics around the station, before the station was closed for a few months.

After a few trips up and down the line, we used our Rover tickets for a trip to the excellent museums at Ingrow, and I got a few detail shots around the museums for future projects.

Whilst some of the family headed back to the house, I (and my parents, up visiting for New Years) took a ride on the diesel railbus.

Last shot of the day, the railbus about to leave Ingrow for a last trip down to Keighley.

New Years Eve at Cliffe Castle

A change from the deluge of railway photography of late; New Years Day saw us with a few hours to kill at Cliffe Castle, Keighley.  We really like this place, a proper traditional museum, and we've been visiting here off an on for the last 15 years.

The museum has an impressive collection of minerals and fossils, so I (Ben) thought I'd try for a few pics of the collection.

All phone shots (with Elder Child lighting them with her own phone).

It took me back to my College days, when I was studying Geology before moving more towards art and photography.

There might be some mileage in an abstract project, and perhaps some more pics here for open calls, as they have some very impressive samples on display.
