Half Term... Blackpool Illuminations

Probably Amy’s most prolific project to date, “Light Trails” is her sprawling, ongoing, and experimental body of work playing around with long exposure pictures and similar techniques.

Though she’s done this sort of work at home, or in empty buildings, woodland etc, it is Blackpool and the yearly illuminations which provide the best location for a bit of creative play, and having recently exhibited (and sold) some of the older images from the set, interest was suitably rekindled for another visit…

This year of course she was armed with the new SLR which is streets ahead of the old D90 when it comes to shooting at night, but this visit was mainly about experimenting with the new camera (in between supervising the Scouts and our own Foster Childs).  Still, plenty of leaders and helpers to cover with the youthery, a nice crisp, clear night, and lots of lights to look at.

The "Big One" roller coaster at the Pleasure Beach...

There'll be a separate post with pics of the Tower next, being as it was without scaffold for the first time in a long while...

The lit-up Ferris wheel is always good for a few shots...

Looking slightly like the titles of Dr.Who...

...appropriately enough as it turned out.
