The last of the walks through Hirst Wood wasn't technically spring, but summer, and started in Shipley this time on a verrrrry hot day.
Just visible lurking in the canal, a pike- one of several, because...
...the canal was absolutely chocka with fish, thousands of them.
There were not just pike stalking them either, but herons too.
Nice of him to pose on that bit of roof like that too.
Into Saltaire, through the mill.
More fish, wish I'd had the underwater camera this time.
Another West Coast excursion was running, so I copped it from the level crossing. It is a little annoying that this is all we seem to get now, the line being too busy for steam trains midweek, we just get the diesels taking the coaches to York or Hellifield, but better than nowt.
The woods provided a bit of welcome shade on a very hot day.
Walking back a different route to normal, under the Bingley Bypass. Not done this path for a while because of the ground conditions; very overgrown, and incredibly boggy even during a heatwave like this.
To be honest I've kind of done Hirst Wood to death as a photo location now, so I'll probably just return to it for specific shoots like railway photography...
