For this entry, another look at some more general artwork by Amy, focusing this time on two of her recurring subjects, origami birds, and stags. The Map Birds piece above was produced for the Bradford Open show in 2017.
The birds are a stylised take on some origami pieces which Amy used to make quite often. The design developed from a basic silhouette to something more complex, using maps. The above brooches were made for a project last year.
The same designs were also developed for some experiments with ceramics, firing the designs onto plates and cups in the kiln as part of some test/demonstration pieces at work.
...and in use as fridge magnets, alongside some of the stags...
This was the first take on the stag design, produced a few years ago for a sculpture and art trail at Rydal Hall.
The design was modified for another practical piece, (INSERT PIC OF BOX)
It was modified again to create this laser-cut decorative piece as a prototype/test piece.
The basic design was then produced as brooches/badges...
And a more recent take, another demonstration piece for the day job.
