Bradford Industrial Museum October

Half term saw us pay a return to the Bradford Industrial Museum, en-masse as a family.  The museum was somewhat worryingly quiet for a half term day, but it did allow some unrestricted angles for photography...

The Transport Gallery was the first stop, and some abstracts of the cars.

I also got a few snaps of the locomotive "Nellie" for potential use in a railway mag.

Along with the ex-Bradford Corporation tram and trolleybus.

I thought I'd get a few more close-ups of the machines, something I'd done a bit of during the research for the Jabberwock project.

The low winter sun gave some interesting lighting on the machinery...

I thought I'd also do some grey scale pics, making the most of the unusual light.

Up with the weaving machines on the first floor, I went back to colour to make the most of the bright threads.

...and the coloured end of the bobbins.

I also got the camera into the gubbins of some of the longer weaving machines- I quite like the Sci-fi atmosphere of these pics, and try to get a couple on each visit.

Then it was back down and outside, via the rather nice works clock.

I didn't bother snapping anything in the wagon displays, or the houses, as The Childs were busy doing the Halloween Trail around the place.

Another good visit.  Its such a shame how quiet the museum is though, it is stuffed full of interesting bits and pieces, and it deserves to be visited more, but then there is such a squeeze on the heritage sector locally.  Hopefully more can be made of the place in the future, for now I'm just glad that it's still open.  Returning for their Christmas Fair was rather more positive, as the place was absolutely heaving with visitors.

As a nice postscript to the visit, one of the shots from the Transport Gallery was featured in the December issue of "Steam Railway" magazine.
