What with work, and the generally poor weather over the summer, we haven't done much railway photography this year, but we always try and get a visit in to the Ffestiniog.
The weather was a bit manky at the start of our Welsh stay, but Harbour Station has a lovely cafe, and Saturday morning saw us dodging the showers to get a cake and a brew there. Quarry Hunslet 'Hugh Napier' was parked up, giving footplate rides between the downpours/
Later in the week, the weather was much improved; after a morning messing around with inflatables on the beach, we headed up to the woods at Tanybwlch for a trip to the station, and an ice cream at the cafe. This is fast becoming a tradition on beach days; it's a nice, rather cooler spot, to spend the heat of the afternoon.
We took some reference pics for model-making whilst we were hanging around.
Double-Fairlie-hauled service arrives, "Myrddin Emrys" arriving.
Another Double-Fairlie, "David Lloyd George" in the cutting just outside the station. I'd hoped to get a shot of "Welsh Pony" (my favourite loco) but it had failed with a mechanical the week before. Nice to see the iconic Fairlies working hard though.
A final shot back at Porthmadog on the last day of the holiday; something of a contrast to when we arrived, weather-wise.
