We took a visit with family to Hawes, up in Wensleydale, not too long ago. Landscape photography at this time of year is always a bit tricky as the gloom of the weather, and the bareness of the greenery, can make things a bit grim and stark.
Still, Hawes is crammed full of interesting features, buildings, nooks and crannies.
Naturally we ended up down at the old station, which has been restores as a museum. A rather nicely restored ex-Industrial tank loco sits at the head of a rake of carriages.
The old weighbridge hut; we ended up documenting this in some detail for a possible project for Garden Rail magazine; it should be possible to do something like this on the laser cutter.
Switching to looking at little details around the village instead, to compensate for the overcast sky.
We took a little stroll up the river, in the hope that the sky would clear a bit.
At least the scenery was interesting...
...and the river quite dramatic. It'd be worth popping back up on a nice day in the summer, just to compare and contrast with these shots.
