Back from Wales, and it was time for a bit of railway photography on the Worth Valley. We're not far off their big diesel gala, lots of visiting locomotives, and always good for a bit of photography.
As a kind of warm-up for it though, one of the visiting locomotives (the class 14, known as a 'teddybear') was out and about. The weather looked promising, so I (Ben) planned a few shots, in and around chores at home.
I thought I'd start nearer to the house, and get the pics done around here nice and early before the local teenage scrotes get out of bed and start throwing rocks, as happened during my attempt at an afternoon shot of the "Flying Scotsman" a couple of weeks before.
I'd not managed any decent pics of a class 14, so I saw this as a good opportunity. The weather was lovely, really nice lighting.
One of my favourite locations, the climb out of Keighley.
Nearer to home, as it was convenient whilst doing some building work for the garden.
The need to do a tip run gave me and Elder Child an excuse to get up to Haworth for some pics.
After doing the station, we did a walk up towards Oxenhope for a few more pics.
Then it was back down to Mytholmes Tunnel for my last, but favourite, shot of the day.
Slight surprise, as I don't often get work in RAIL Magazine, but a nice big shot too.
