Northumberland... Lindisfarne Castle

Tonight, our trip to Holy Island.  This has been on the list of places Amy has wished to visit for years, after studying the period of history at school which most features Lindisfarne, so she was happy to finally be there taking pictures.

Surprising variety with the lighting and weather on the evening we were there (the tidal causeway meant we could only get onto the island in the late afternoon).

Looking towards the castle from the beach.

The ruined priory from the castle path, as the sun started to set.

Rather nice shed, an upturned and cut-up boat, one of several such shelters near the beach.

A nice evening out on the island (and the time we visited meant it wasn't too heavily thronged with tourists), and we got some rather nice bottles of Mead too, made on the island...

Tomorrow, maybe another set of a rather bigger castle, Bamburgh...
