In one of our cabinets at home, is a small, but very beautiful glass rabbit, which I (Ben) won in a competition at the old Glass Museum at Broadfield House. A victim of council cutbacks, the old museum shut, but happily a charity has set up a new museum on the outskirts of Stourbridge.
This has been on the to-do list for ages; the pair of us paid a visit to Broadfield House just before it shut, and Amy is a big fan of ornate glass. With Covid out of the way, we were finally able to get to this new museum.
The inside of the museum is great, really light and airy, with lots of exhibition spaces, and a working forge with demonstrations.
Loads of interactive bits in the main spaces too, which The Childs were very much glued to.
The display of the artefacts was superb, lots of dramatically-lit cabinets.
Over the road is the Glass Cone itself, with more museums, workshops, and boutique craft outlets.
Looking up into the glass cone itself.
These two museums were worth the wait, and started the ball rolling on lots of ideas for future projects of our own. Thoroughly recommended for people to pay a visit if they're in the West Mids.
