Sticking with the North Yorkshire Moors... being as we were fitting in this photography trip around the usual family activities, we really hadn't planned locations or timings. Getting the Standard 4MT leaving Goathland was a happy accident, though the weather was appalling still into the afternoon.
A bit of local wildlife.
Giving something of a hint of the unpleasant driving conditions.
Goathland Station from the footbridge. Quiet at this point, though about to get busy... the use of the station to represent Hogsmeade in the first Harry Potter film meant there were as many fans of that franchise as railway enthusiasts knocking around.
The 9F arrived, to cross Gresley.
The loco was looking rather magnificent; the white strips incidentally are LED lights, ready for the train to star in the 'train in lights' services on nights the next week. Sadly we wouldn't be around for that.
My favourite shot of the afternoon, as the 9F waits for the right-away.
Heading back, we ended up at the level crossing in Grosmont, as the 9F ran-round. We wondered about stopping off here, but there was no parking.
A final couple of shots, the Class 31 running the service into the mainline station at Whitby.
