With the holiday all but over, we followed the advice of some workmates, and some of our family, and headed up to Saltburn. We weren't sure what we'd find in a seaside resort town, out of season and in a storm, but it turned out to provide a lot of photo opporunities.
Parking up on the clifftop, we strolled down to the pier.
Amy spent quite a while filming the sea, for possible use in an open call. It was quite hypnotic, watching the waves crash over the shingle.
The waves were so rough, you could (slightly disconcertingly) feel the waves smashing into the piers. It didn't help that me and Elder Child were recounting the various Kaiju films we'd seen where monsters attacked a pier...
Making the pier look like a scene from a Wes Anderson film.
A few arty experiments.
Back onto the promenade.
Love these beach huts.
Back at Uni, we'd have loved a location like this for a shoot.
Thankfully the cliff tramway was running.
Nice windows.
After our holiday in France in the summer, we love a funicular.
And that was that. Well, we had a walk around the town too, but there wasn't anything really to photograph, and the rain was getting heavier.
And that was the holiday nearly over, barring a return to Whitby after we'd got out of the house the next morning.
